I love what Mozilla Labs is doing with its Ubiquity Firefox extension. I highly recommend installing and playing around with it. Ubiquity is still in its earliest stages and is already so powerful. Here are the Ubiquity commands I’ve written (all work with Ubiquity 0.5):
- bit.ly – shortens a URL using http://bit.ly.
- xkcd – shows the latest xkcd comic (saves a little time over going to the website).
- validate – validates the current page using the W3C validator.
Note: you can subscribe to each command individually by clicking on it. If you have Ubiquity installed, a bar should pop down with a “Subscribe” button once you navigate to the command’s page.
